Quality engineer job description and profile
The quality engineer is the one who has the responsibility to make sure that every function and operation in a work place happens with high quality, smoothly and perfectly. There are many other duties attached to it such as checking performance efficiency of machines, quality control of products, quality of staff and customer service.
Responsible for fulfilling the role of Quality expert; this is a hands-on position.  Ensure the quality of the product produced at Vickers Engineering meets all customer expectations; quickly and effectively take action when non-conformances are found.  Maintain the most recent interpretations of the quality system requirements and therefore ensure that documented practices meet the true interpretation of the quality management system standards.
Responsibilities
·        Manage APQP/PPAP activity
o   Working with Program Managers, Manufacturing engineers, and QC techs on all current and future production jobs
·        Lead and assist on continual improvement projects both within and outside of quality function
·        Administer corrective/preventative actions both internally and externally
·        Develop and implement Supplier Auditing program
·        Develop and implement Supplier Performance program
·        Process parameter development
·        Implement SPC to shop floor
·        Lean methods
·        Basic blueprint reading/interpretation, GD&T
·        Problem solving techniques and skills
·        Complete and implement 8D corrective actions
·        Project implementation skills
·        Demonstrate leadership qualities in a high volume automotive quality department
·        Train and mentor manufacturing management group on:
o   Data driven decisions (Cpk, SPC)
o   Problem solving techniques

Quality engineer education and qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering w/focus in Quality.
  • Experience and knowledge in an Automotive QS system.
  • 4-7 years’ experience in a role as a Quality Control Engineer
  • 4-7 years’ experience with supervising a quality control department.
Physical Requirements
·                       Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items
·                       Responding to public address system announcements
·                       Walking and standing
·                       Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds or more
 
Environmental Job Requirements
·                       Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the shop, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface
·                       The shop environment can be dusty and noisy
·                       Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes
·                       Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions, or liquids such as coolants and oils from the machinery
·                       May have to handle parts with sharp edges
·                       Passing forklifts emit gas fumes
·                       Tools, supplies, and related materials may contain hazardous materials
·                       May have to occasionally work outdoors where temperatures and climate can fluctuate
·                        
Personal Protection Equipment
·                       The wearing of Safety Glasses when working on the shop floor.
